Blijf niet staan
liturgical music for basic choir
In this age of levelling and non-commitment, it often proves necessary to seek out new and expansive liturgical sounds in order to “nourish” a committed church choir.
In addition to offering indestructible compositions from our rich musical past, there is a pressing need for new music.
Progressive impulses, slow texts in our own and other languages, improvisation, twentieth-century harmonic twists and turns are alternated and combined with traditional elements in the psalms, the instrumentation and the invitation to sing along.
Written for, and also sung here by, the unaccompanied modal choir, “Blijf niet staan” aims to be a stimulus for anyone who wants to renew or supplement the current repertoire.
